"He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand."

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
Recently I’ve been reflecting on the Great Commission, and Jesus’ command to go and make disciples. These few verses sum up both our mission statement and our method. Our goal is to make followers of Jesus that are committed to Him and His word. We achieve this by simply passing on to others what God has passed on to us through the Scriptures.
We continue to introduce people to the saving power of Jesus Christ every Monday night on the street. Thank God for the freedom we have experienced not only to share a roll and sausage but also to share the Gospel.
The consistency and the hunger of the men and women who come to the Tuesday study is quite remarkable, allowing us to give a comprehensive account of the Gospel and issues relating to the Christian life. Each Tuesday bible study allows us to build on the foundation of the last. Please pray that this hunger for God’s word would continue and that we would be able to graft other interested parties into the group.
I believe that the word of God has the power to transform our lives, and that a thorough understanding of it is essential for every believer. Our Thursday study is geared to that end. Numbers continue to grow but we pray for real spiritual growth in the lives of everyone who attends.
Mothers and children
We don’t work with many families, but those we do work with we are completely devoted to. We have been serving some of these mothers for almost 20 years now in one way or another. After a hectic summer of day trips, movie nights, school uniform shopping, and general bouncy castle chaos, the children are back at school and we have been given a unique opportunity to really challenge the mums with the message of the Bible. Pray for us as we source materials that will help us communicate the significance of the cross to these mums. Some aren’t able to join us at the church. Pray for us as we continue to support and encourage these families in their homes and communities.
We are so grateful for the tireless work that Hugh and Ian Dawson do in Barlinnie prison. Pray that the men will continue to value studying God’s word over the myriad of other options they have during that time. And pray for Hugh and Ian as they guide the men through the Gospels.
We are always looking for God’s people to join us in praying for the work. We continue to meet every Thursday from 11am to 12pm at 162 St Vincent Lane. Press the bell on the left. A light lunch is provided.New Contact Details We have decided it would be easier for people to contact Hugh directly. In the future, if you wish to support us, or if you would like us to come and speak at your church, please phone Hugh on 07973 797 440. You can also check our website for more details about the work, and for monthly prayer points.
